It was an honor
It was an honor to serve as a practitioner in the Whole Person Health program under the
visionary leadership of Dr. Lindiwe Greenwood. My program series within, Into Balance: A
Journey through Food & Wellness with Edesiagurl, was designed to support the survivors
served by HopeWorks of Howard County through a trauma-informed, holistic approach to
wellness. Each session blended food systems education, practical nutrition, cooking skills,
gardening, and movement to help participants reconnect with their bodies and rebuild trust in
themselves—one small, powerful step at a time.
I am deeply grateful to Dr. Greenwood for believing in me and my work. Her trust allowed me to
bring my full self—chef, farmer, educator, and survivor—into a space of healing and
empowerment. Dr. Greenwood is a true healer in every sense of the word. Her compassion,
integrity, and commitment to whole person care are rare and remarkable. To be chosen to walk
alongside her in this mission was both humbling and life-affirming. The experience bringing my
program to HopeWorks was transformative—not just for the survivors I served, but for me as
well. I watched them all light up in their own ways while cooking nourishing meals, planting
seeds in the garden, and moving their bodies freely and joyfully. The work was deep, personal,
and healing.
Anyone in need of someone who sees you fully and offers a path to wellness rooted in
authenticity and care, I would wholeheartedly encourage to seek out Dr. Greenwood. It has
been a privilege to contribute to her vital program—and to do so in partnership with such a
powerful force to help people find complete wellness and be the best version of themselves.
