Food Allergy Advocacy and Awareness
Food Allergies and Insensitivities are on the rise. Researchers estimate that 32 million Americans have food allergies, including 5.6 million children under age 18. That’s one in 13 children. Every three minutes, a food allergy reaction sends someone to the emergency room. Each year in the U.S., 200,000 people require emergency medical care for allergic reactions to food. If you or your child are one of the individuals diagnosed with a food allergy, these statistics can be more than overwhelming, as they become a new and dangerous reality. We are here to help guide you and your family to creating a “Food Allergy Toolkit” that includes questions to ask when interfacing with the school, camp, or daycare provider, how to prepare for going out to eat, helpful products and resources. If you own a facility or restaurant that wants to become more Food Allergy sensitive, we offer resources for this as well.
